Trees

Unlike a lot of other landscape companies, we offer a full service in house tree division which has over 40 years of combined experience.  We can handle all of your tree services while adhering to ANSI (American National Standards Institute) Specifications.  With our on-staff certified ISA Arborists, we provide complete consultation and tree services related to diagnosis and evaluations, environmental impact reports associated with development and redevelopment, site evaluations and design.   We provide tree restoration, removal, hazard reduction and building clearance, stump grinding and pest and disease control.  Trees are your most valuable asset and require professional care as well as maintenance to protect them and enhance their value.

Hazard Reduction Pruning and Maintenance Pruning

Interpretations of the term 'tree pruning' can be broad and because of that we always clearly define tree species and locations on estimates. For example, without clearly defined specifications a contractor could make one cut per tree and satisfy the 'tree pruning' term on the contract.

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A300 Pruning Specifications are recognized by the International Society of Arboriculture. Under these specifications two different pruning objectives are considered- Hazard Reduction Pruning and Maintenance Pruning

For each of these objectives six types of pruning are identified:

  • Crown Cleaning: Removal of dead, dying, diseased or weak branches and water sprouts.
  • Crown Thinning: The selective removal of branches to increase light penetration, air movement and reduce weight.
  • Crown Raising: The removal of lower branches to provide clearance.
  • Crown Reduction (crown shaping): Reduction of height spread of a tree. Note: Only a limited number of trees can withstand this type of pruning.
  • Vista Pruning: The selective thinning of framework limbs or an area of the crown to allow for a specific view.
  • Crown Restoration: Pruning to improve the structure, form, and appearance of a tree that has been severely headed, vandalized, or storm damaged.
